Vedors We Love: Eat and Smile Foods

We love Eat and Smile Foods not only because their food is out of this world but also because they are the only full-time locally sourced caterer in Washington, DC.

Eat and Smile Foods, run by Chef Oliver Friendly, buys all of its meat, breads, cheeses, fruits, vegetables all from farms within 150 miles of DC.  How 'bout them apples?  Buying from local farmers ensures that every dollar spent recirculates within our community and it cuts down on the energy used to transport food from far away all the way to the East Coast.  Did we mention that farm fresh food tastes better too?!

Eat and Smile tailors menus to the couple's desires, whether it be a formal sit down meal, a buffet, or passed hors d'ouevres. Eat and Smile actually doesn't have a set menu; it is all customer-created for the client.

We worked with Oliver at a wedding at the National Building Museum and rather than a traditional meal, he created different tasting stations for the couple.  It was incredible!

Did we are REALLY excited about Oliver's new restaurant coming to Rhode Island Ave NE and can't for it to open!

New Years Photoshoot on Style Me Pretty

We were so thrilled to be featured on Style Me Pretty for our photoshoot with Anne Robert Photography this week (with Holly Heider Chapple’s flowers and DIYva Design's invitations!)
We styled this New Year’s Celebration photoshoot with a Hollywood Regency flair–think gold everything, chinoiserie, mirrored tables, and the glitz of the 50s and 60s.  I know, I know, people think “Hollywood Regency” and they don’t think outside with nature, but we are all about pushing the envelope and contrasts and I’ll say that I think it worked quite well!  For our color pallet we chose gold, copper, and turquoise.  Why? Well gold is the usual choice for New Year’s, so we wanted to throw in a twist and push our creativity.  Check out Anne’s simply incredible work.

Hello, gorgeous!

Aren’t these florals incredible?  Holly outdoes herself every time.

For the table, I wanted to create an unusual table runner to tie in the Hollywood Regency theme and and decided to gold-bomb some sticks (with gold floral spray paint, of course) and turned them into a runner.  The candles were votives that I painted with  transclusent gold paint to give them that glow factor.  For the place settings, I wanted to contrast the copper and gold, so my team took glass plate chargers and hand-covered them in copper-leaf.  If you haven’t experimented with copper-leaf, I highly recommend it!

 We painted those pinecones too!
